Got Lights? Free bicycle lights in DC.

Daylight savings time is around the corner. It’s already getting dark out early. Although, you can see well riding around the District at night, the 3000 lbs machines moving at 30 MPH cannot see you well. You need lights. Good thing WABA is giving away free lights this week.

WABA, in conjunction with the District Department of Transportation, City of Alexandria and Fairfax Advocates for Better Bicycling will be giving out over 800 free light sets and help make streets safer for nighttime riders by raising awarenessof the importance of being seen when cycling especially at night.

Lights will only be available for those who show up with their bike. Limit 1 set per person.

Locations of giveaway in the District:

Thursday October 29 from 4:30-6:30pm (or when supplies run out) at 18th and Columbia NW (Adams Morgan) and Public Park – 7th St. NE and Massachusetts Ave. NE

  1. I’ll be at the one in Alexandria dot 5 o’clock – I love free stuff!!!

  2. Thanks for the great post! Good find. I might wear it on my person when I’m without my bike. Pedestrians are also at risk in this city.
